Boat Bench Seats

BOAT BENCH SEATS

There are three main types of seats that you would find in any boat, fishing seats, lounge seats, and boat bench seats. Of these three types, bench seats are undoubtedly the most comfortable and the most luxurious. They are often used on pontoon boats and other comfort and luxury boats because they are very easy to sit on all day and offer a level of comfort that is not seen in other boat seats.

Simply put, a boat bench seat is a seat that spans more than a few feet in length.  Think of them as a bench, but with padding and other comfort amenities added in. Because they span more than a few feet in length, it’s quite possible to have multiple people sitting on the same bench seat without interfering with each other. Because of this fact, bench seats are most common on pontoon boats because it allows a large amount of people to be in the boat with ample room for sitting and relaxing.

Bench seats are often found on the sides and the front and back of the boat, which allow everybody to face each other for easy conversations and comfort. Bench seats have support for the lower back as well as padding extra foam in the seats so even the heaviest people are supported and can enjoy themselves while out on the water. Some bench seats also have armrests on either end of the seat for added comfort.

PROS OF BENCH SEATS

The most obvious advantage associated with bench seats is that they are very comfortable.  People can easily sit on a bench seat for hours on end without getting sore or restless, and this allows people to stay out on the lake the entire day while enjoying themselves as well. Bench seats are specially designed for maximum comfort and have added lumbar support for the lower back and abdominal area. This means you can essentially sit down the entire day without feeling restless or experiencing pain of any sort.

Another advantage of bench seats, and in particular how they are laid out on most boats, is that multiple people can occupy a single seat at any given time. This allows the maximum capacity of the boat to be increased dramatically and allows for more people to be on the boat at any one time.

CONS OF BENCH SEATS

The only real con of a bench seat is that they are very bulky, and therefore hard to move around.  Often, they are simply bolted down or built right into the boat itself, making them impossible to move. In addition, they can’t be rotated in any way, and fishing from bench seats is quite difficult.

Boat bench seats are a great option for the avid pontoon boater who wants to host nice parties and have friends on the boat. Because of the capacity of each seat, you can have up to fifteen people on the boat, all sitting in comfort for the entire day.
