Pontoon boats can provide the ultimate means for relaxation and outdoor leisure, and they’re becoming increasingly popular among those seeking to spend a few quiet hours out in the open sea, either by themselves or with a group of friends. The greatest benefit that pontoon boats provide is in their inherently roomy design, giving you lots of space to fill up – or even leave empty to create a more minimalistic feeling for the boat’s design. Additionally, pontoon boats come at a low initial and maintenance costs, and tend to take very little resources to repair in the event that they get damaged (e.g. in a collision).

One of the best benefits related to pontoon boats, however, is the wide range of seating options available for them – given the large room the boat offers, you’ve literally got hundreds of different designs to choose from, allowing you to fully customize your boating experience exactly the way you want it. However, many people tend to disregard this wide range of options they’ve been given and instead jump to the first solution they could find, feeling satisfied with it just because it looks okay and suits their most basic needs. Don’t fall for that trap – take a look around the market and examine the new solutions that are coming out by the year.

A very popular design that can be seen in more and more boats in recent times are the so-called angled seats – the basic idea is that you line your boat’s interior walls with seats, grouping them around the corners of the boat. You can leave the long lines either unfilled, or place various shelves and other convenience units around them to improve the boat’s functionality and potential for relaxation.

Another convenient way to utilize the space you’ve been given is to combine wall-lined seats with a back-to-back seat in the middle. This usually allows your boat to offer a large passenger capacity, while also creating comfortable space for socializing. Additionally, if your pontoon boat is large enough, you can place tables between opposite seats, further increasing your boat’s appeal and comfort.

Last but not least, don’t forget about flip flop seats – they may be slowly fading away in popularity in recent times (at least if the majority of high-end boat owners are to be of any indication) but they can offer a great combination of looks and utility. Being easy to assemble and disassemble (some even offer mechanisms for the purpose), they can make your boat feel roomy and comfortable for relaxing in, while at the same time giving it plenty of room for utility purposes when needed, e.g. transporting goods. However, a boat entirely lined with flip flop seats can turn out to be rather unattractive, so only go for this solution if you have a specific use in mind for that boat (that doesn’t involve using it for leisure cruises all the time). Apart from that, you can also find some other efficient solutions on the market, but don’t disregard the classics.
